They call it an ‘ode to old Florida living.’
Tucked in the heart of downtown, you’ll enjoy the Southern hospitality, service, atmosphere – and the food.
Owen’s Fish Camp is the only restaurant of its kind. This little not-so-hole-in-the-wall is a great place for date night or dinner with friends and family.
On breezy nights, dine outside under the vines and tiki lights, or head to the back for a livelier scene. Backyard seating includes a mishmash of furniture from every decade. There’s even a tire swing.
Every day during peak season and on the weekends during the off-season, a live band plays out back, where oysters and seafood are grilled over an open fire. It’s a unique atmosphere serving up out-of-this-world seafood.
To start, go with the Smoked Fish Spread with Saltines, served with tangy Cholula hot sauce. Served in a jar, it’s naturally part of the ‘Jars & Such’ section of the menu.
Next, sample the Fried Green Tomato Salad with Goat Cheese, Country Ham Crisps and Buttermilk Dressing. The combination is so savory and delicious … you’ve never had tomatoes quite like this.
When at Owen’s, you really ought to order the Fresh Catch. You can have your fish prepared any way you’d like. Our suggestion? Ask for it lightly blackened with Lemon-Caper Butter, and cheesy grits and succotash on the side.
Prefer greens? Order the Lobster Cobb Salad with Shrimp, Crab, Avocado, Bacon and Egg. It’s one heck of a seafood salad, and a must-try when in Sarasota.
Owen’s Fish Camp also makes its own Serrano, Cayenne and Habanero Pepper Sauces – something you can only find here.
Unless you buy one. Then you can find it in your pantry.
